Who Loves You More?

Are You Smarter Than A Congressman? There are stupid people. There are very stupid people. And, then there are Congressmen.

Someway, somehow, the good people of Livonia, Michigan found it in the goodness of their hearts to send their village idiot to Congress. Thaddeus McCotter loves dumb animals. He just doesn’t give a fart for human beings.

Here we have someone who opposes decent, affordable healthcare for human beings, other than himself and his fellow Members of Congress. Well, that’s not all that rare in the Harem on the Hill. What makes little Thaddeus so special?

The Congressman has offered an alternative. He wants to give pet owners a tax break. He wants to allow a deduction of up to $3,500 for expenses related to pets. Expenses? Yes, expenses, including veterinarian bills.

He wants the government to give you tax relief for that ball of yarn you got for your kitten to play with but not your mother for that walker she needs after falling and breaking her hip. Sure, the IRS does allow you to deduct some medical expenses. You have to spend 7½% of your taxable income on medical bills first though. That means a family of four, with the average income of about $45.000, must find $3,375 extra dollars in their budget without getting any deduction.

Boy, that unrestricted $3,500 deduction for rubber squeaky rats, cat litter and Alpo looks pretty good, come the middle of April.

As intellectually challenged as Mr. McCotter’s peers are, he hasn’t been able to find anyone stupid enough to co-sponsor his bill. He may have to wait a long time, if even Michelle Bachman runs away and hides from him. He thought there was one potential co-sponsor in the future but Sarah wants to resign from the Oval Office, not the House.

You didn’t specify to which Sarah you were referring. If it is the one I suspect it is, she likes to field dress animals, not support them with tax dollars.

:-)

You may have found another reason he should not expect her to co-sponsor his bill. However, according to her former, future son-in-law, her outdoor skills were primarily PR.

And he appears to be such a reliable source!
