Crawford has given speeches, lectures and papers across the country, from Washington, DC to Berkeley and overseas. Most of those appearances have dealt with mental illness but Crawford is a jack-of-all-trades and a master of all. He has held elective office, served the country in the areas diplomacy, intelligence and the military. He holds eight patents.

Crawford, surprisingly, is not averse to promoting his book, Why Are You Mad? He is an adequate speaker and a couple of people found him humorous; though not necessarily intentionally.
