I use the Thesis theme. I was constantly wanting to make changes to my site. Not being very adept at the coding, I needed an easier way. Thesis makes it easy to change almost everything. The key really is to keep making changes, large or small. There are some creative people out there. You don’t need to copy them exactly but use them to stimulate you to come up with your own version. See what works best for you.

Hi, I think your website might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your blog in Opera, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, fantastic blog!

I would strongly recommend going with WordPress unless you plan a high-volume site engaged in e-commerce. Get a theme that can look uncluttered. Constantly make minor changes until you feel you are close to the look that you want. As for content, be yourself. Be consistent. Your reader needs to feel that that know you; that they know what to expect. At the same time, you need to surprise them a little once in a while with an unexpected perspective or topic that still in not out of character. Concentrate on blogging in your areas of expertise, with an occasional article that has a personal flavor, something from your everyday life. It is much more work than it appears to be.
