“Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism.” – George Washington

“True patriotism hates injustice in its own land more than anywhere else.” — Clarence Darrow

I didn’t make the ultimate sacrifice but I did serve this country. I decline to claim that I served my country. This is not the country that I served. This country does dishonor to those that served.

Richard BurrThe Congress has duly earned the disrespect indicated by every poll. Here on Memorial Day I see further evidence of that. One of the buffoons, Senator Richard Burr (R-N.C.) is the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. Were the GOTP to attain the majority, he would sit as chair of that committee.

This Dick sent an open letter to veterans just in time for Memorial Day. It claimed that six veterans’ organizations were more concerned with politics than their memberships. Why? Because they disagreed with the Dick.

Perhaps it might enlighten you to know this jerk’s qualifications for this particular office. He’s a former sales executive, so he is quite comfortable twisting or ignoring the truth. He lettered in football at Wake Forest. Why would they give out letters to members of a team that lost every conference game while he was there? With such low standards, he feels right at home in Congress.

A few years back, during a previous run for political office, he provided the reason he had not served in the military. In response to a direct question he bragged that he might have had to serve, had the draft not ended just before he was graduated from college. Whew. He just missed being drafted. Someone possibly willing to serve, if drafted, is considered sufficiently qualified by the GOTP to guide our government’s veterans’ affairs.

Don’t get me wrong. The Dick has done much more to qualify himself for that position. He voted against the veterans’ jobs bill. He voted against funding the war in Iraq, which he strongly supported. The entire list would take too much time and stretch the bandwidth limits.

E coliIs poor little Dickie the only one? Hardly. He is just one of hundreds of corporate prostitutes infesting Congress. Even more disturbing, scores of millions of voters put these assholes there. Should I take pride in having served those millions of low-information voters that are so disinterested in the future of this country that they can’t be bothered to discover what and who is in their own and the country’s best interest?

Don’t blame the veterans that you have to grill your hamburgers well done this holiday because the clowns in Washington didn’t want a Michigan corporation to have to bear the burden of adequate health regulation to prevent them shipping out all of that E. coli.

I have added this video from Rachel Maddow’s show where she provides even more detail.

My apologies but that video no longer exists.

Enjoy the three-day weekend, anyway.

If you found this educational, edifying, interesting or otherwise worth your time, this geezer would appreciate a little supplement to those Social Security checks, They forgot to factor in the cost of publishing a blog. I would like to continue being able to afford my daily cup of coffee and pound of caviar.

Many thanks,

Crawford Harris.
